What does your typical working day look like?
I’m part of the team at Ultimate Finance, where we look after clients up to around £100k in lending. A lot of the lending is invoice financing, i.e. advancing money against invoices that they’ve issued and are awaiting payment on.
My job is mainly office-based and I’m kept busy looking after an array of clients. Throughout the day I’ll be in regular contact with my clients over the phone or on email – it’s the part of the job I enjoy the most.
I’m also kept busy assessing clients’ payment requests for that day which come in via our portal, approving and then processing them.
An important part of my role is monitoring risk levels for our clients; we use an internal tool to keep track of our clients’ credit status and payment information to make sure everything is running smoothly.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the way that we have created a simplified system to make things really straightforward. We pride ourselves on our customer relationships. I have a great spread of clients across a number of sectors, from recruitment to haulage companies. Depending on their specific requirements, I speak to some clients once a day whereas others it’s more like one a month – so there’s a nice mix.
Personally, I have found that Ultimate Finance is a great place to work. There’s a real possibility of progression if you work well – I’ve been promoted twice since I joined three years ago. The company also really listens. If you have an idea of how to do something better, they want to know and will take action on what you’re saying – so that’s encouraging and motivational.
There’s a great bunch of people here too! It’s a busy office, but there’s a happy atmosphere and people enjoy what they’re doing.
What does good funding mean to you?
Good funding to me means making funding as uncomplicated as possible for our clients. It’s also about being transparent and fair – no hidden charges or surprises.
Ultimately, good funding can help a company grow as a business – seeing that happen and knowing you’ve played a part in it is really satisfying.
